The Peoples of the World Foundation
Education for and about Indigenous Peoples
Our work with indigenous peoples began informally in 1999 when our founder, Dr. Ray Waddington, decided to broaden his travel horizons by visiting Asia for the first time. During that trip he stayed in many indigenous communities and became profoundly aware of the many issues faced by indigenous peoples. He realized that the most important of those issues was education. Before he left Asia the seed of The Peoples of the World Foundation was planted.
He traveled extensively in Asia over the next few years performing research and gathering material that would lead him to establish our Foundation.
We are both an apolitical and a secular organization. We formally obtained Internal Revenue Service code 501(c)(3) non-profit status in the United States in 2003.
